MOXI® Laser

Get your glow back

Sciton® MOXI® is one of the gentlest yet most effective laser treatments available designed to safely revitalize skin on all skin types, all year round. This non-ablative fractional laser delivers a precise wavelength that is in-between the dual lasers you get with HALO®, often referred to as a "Mini HALO", creating controlled micro-channels in the skin's surface. These tiny micro-injuries trigger the body's natural healing response, stimulating collagen production and encouraging fresh, healthy skin cell growth without damaging the top layer of skin.

As a versatile, in-between treatment, MOXI is perfect for those who want visible rejuvenation but aren't ready for more intensive procedures like HALO. It effectively treats fine lines, pigmentation, sun damage, uneven skin tone, pores, and texture all with minimal downtime. It's also one of the few lasers proven to treat melasma safely and effectively. For younger patients, MOXI is also an excellent prejuvenation treatment that helps to prevent and slow early signs of aging caused by UV exposure and environmental stress.

Recovery is typically mild, with only 3-7 days of social downtime, making it less noticeable and more manageable than deeper laser treatments. Results often include smoother texture, improved clarity, and a radiant, more even complexion that lasts for months depending on skin type and routine. MOXI can also be paired with other advanced treatments for enhanced outcomes, serving as an ideal maintenance treatment after HALO and producing especially beautiful results when combined with BBL.

Recommended Add-Ons

BBL

Combination therapies are a faster and more complete option for patients who want the best results in the shortest amount of time. When combing BBL and MOXI together, you will experience more than just an additive effect of the two, but an actual synergistic effect. BBL will target sun damage, age spots, acne, uneven skin tone, redness, and vascular lesions. MOXI will address fine lines and texture and also help the disrupted pigment from the BBL rise to the surface and slough off, speeding up the purging process. Together, they address a variety of both surface imperfections and deeper concerns in one single session, delivering unparalleled results.

Frequently Asked Questions

This procedure may benefit individuals with fine lines, pores, uneven pigmentation and melasma, as well as anyone who wishes to improve the brightness and health of their skin.

While Moxi laser is safe and effective for most people, some individuals may not be ideal candidates due to factors that could increase risks or impact results. Medical clearance may be required for certain conditions. Please consult with your healthcare provider if you are unsure. Precautions to consider:

  • Pregnancy - consult with your healthcare provider first.
  • Patients who are undergoing treatment for skin cancer.
  • Accutane - must wait at least 6-12 months.
  • Compromised skin (dermatitis, sunburn, open wounds or sores, infection) in the treatment area.
  • Autoimmune conditions that affect skin healing (like lupus or active vitiligo) - consult with your healthcare provider first.
  • History of keloids or poor wound healing.

Initial improvements are often visible within a few days after treatment, with continued improvement over the following months as your body produces collagen.

Moxi results can vary but typically last several months, however, to maintain these benefits, additional maintenance treatments may be recommended, depending on individual needs and desired outcomes. Proper skincare and sun protection are also crucial for extending the duration of the results.

Minimal downtime is required for Moxi. Immediately after treatment, your skin will feel hot like a sunburn for approximately 30 minutes to 2 hours, sometimes longer. You will be sent home with a cooling bio-cellulose mask to provide comfort during this time. A few days post-treatment, patients can expect mild swelling and redness with mild flaking of the skin. You may notice a sandpaper texture and light bronzing of the skin. This is treated tissue working its way out as new skin is regenerated. Depending on the treatment area and depth, the healing process will take about 3-7 days. A post-care kit will be provided to  help speed up healing.

A Moxi treatment first begins with the option of topical numbing cream applied to the area being treated to ease any discomfort. This will stay on for approximately 20-30 minutes and be removed prior to treatment. Light from a laser can be harmful to eyes and wearing special safety eyewear is necessary at all times during the procedure. During treatment, each section will be treated by rolling the hand piece over the skin to deliver laser energy until completed which usually takes no more than 7 minutes, depending on the treatment area. During treatment, you may feel some warmth with a slight prickling sensation. Cooling measures often help to enhance comfort. Laser treatment procedures may produce scanning patterns visible on the skin. This event usually fades while in the healing phase.

Before + After Care

  • Avoid direct sun exposure, including tanning beds, and artificial tanning (spray tans, tanning lotions, etc.) for at least 1 week prior to treatment. Use SPF 30+ if sun exposure is unavoidable.
  • Avoid skin irritants (products containing tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide or acne medications, vitamin C if strong or acidic, hydroquinone, AHAs, BHAs, astringents, depilatories, waxing, etc.) or any other exfoliating products in the treatment area for at least 5 days prior to treatment.
  • Avoid blood thinners (including fish oil and vitamin E), NSAIDs, photosensitizing drugs, and certain antibiotics at least 5 days before your treatment as these may increase the risk of bruising or irritation. Consult with your healthcare provider before discontinuing.
  • Wait at least 5–10 days after Botox or filler before receiving Moxi.
  • If you have a history of herpes/cold sores in the treatment area, pre-treat with an antiviral a few days before and after treatment to reduce the risk of an outbreak. Please let us know if you need a prescription for a short course to take.

  • Limited activity and exercise is advised, as well as no sweating, excessive heat, swimming, hot showers, and sauna use until skin is fully healed. When showering, try to avoid getting shampoo directly on the treated area.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure for 1-2 weeks following treatment. Keep the area covered with a hat or loose clothing and apply a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) SPF 30+ to prevent hyperpigmentation.
  • Avoid artificial tanning (spray tans, tanning lotions, etc.) and skin irritants (products containing tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide or acne medications, vitamin C if strong or acidic, hydroquinone, AHAs, BHAs, astringents, depilatories, waxing, etc.) or any other exfoliating products in the treatment area until skin is fully healed. Please use only the products included in your kit for the first few days, unless otherwise advised.
  • Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours, and only use mineral-based products once the skin starts healing.
