Halo Laser

The world's first hybrid fractional laser.

Patients across the globe have coined the phrase “Halo glow” to describe their flawless complexion after a Sciton Halo Laser treatment. This advanced treatment delivers two laser wavelengths at the same time to targeted areas of the skin. These two wavelengths include:

  • An ablative erbium laser to gently remove the thin, damaged outer layers of skin to address deep lines, laxity, and scarring. This promotes the skin's natural healing process from within to produce new, healthy skin in a short amount of time. This type of laser also includes the Nano & Micro LaserPeel which often requires a longer healing process.

  • A non-ablative diode laser keeps the surface skin intact while directing energy precisely to underlying areas of tissue to stimulate collagen production for long-term rejuvenation. This laser penetrates the deeper layers of the skin to address sun damage, texture, pores, and fine lines. This type of laser also includes the MOXI laser which is also associated with less downtime.

While providing deep resurfacing, Halo is also widely regarded as one of the safest, most effective lasers available. The level of skin repair far surpasses most lasers and best of all, it works on all skin types. It even improves sun damage that’s not yet visible at the surface.

The Halo laser allows us to customize each treatment for the patient’s needs and desired downtime. Depending on the treatment area and depth, the healing process will take about 7-10 days. Most individuals require only 1-2 Halo treatments to achieve their goals, as results are long lasting.

Recommended Add-Ons

BBL

Combination therapies are a faster and more complete option for patients who want the best results in the shortest amount of time. When combing BBL and Halo together, you will experience more than just an additive effect of the two, but an actual synergistic effect. BBL will target sun damage, age spots, acne, uneven skin tone, redness, and vascular lesions. Halo will help the disrupted pigment from the BBL rise to the surface and slough off, speeding up the purging process. Together, they address a variety of both surface imperfections and deeper concerns in one single session, delivering unparalleled results.

Frequently Asked Questions

The ideal candidates are those experiencing aging, sun damage, uneven skin tone, scarring, enlarged pore, or anyone wishing to improve their complexion and achieve a youthful appearance.

While Halo laser is safe and effective for most people, some individuals may not be ideal candidates due to factors that could increase risks or impact results. Medical clearance may be required for certain conditions. Please consult with your healthcare provider if you are unsure. Precautions to consider:

  • Pregnancy.
  • Patients who are undergoing treatment for skin cancer.
  • Accutane - must wait 12 months.
  • Compromised skin (dermatitis, sunburn, open wounds or sores, infection) in the treatment area.
  • Autoimmune conditions that affect skin healing (like lupus or active vitiligo) - consult with your healthcare provider first.
  • History of keloids or poor wound healing.

Noticeable results can be seen in one week with skin continuing to improve over the next few months as your body produces collagen. Maximum results of collagen production are seen at 3 months, with continued improvement up to 12 months or more.

Many patients experience remarkable results that can last for years, however, to maintain these benefits, additional maintenance treatments may be recommended, depending on individual needs and desired outcomes. Proper skincare and sun protection are also crucial for extending the duration of the results.

Minimal downtime is required for Halo. Immediately after treatment, your skin will feel hot like a sunburn for approximately 1-2 hours, sometimes longer. You will be sent home with a cooling bio-cellulose mask to provide comfort during this time. A few days post-treatment, patients can expect mild to moderate swelling and redness with light peeling. You may notice a sandpaper texture and bronzing of the skin. This is treated tissue working its way out as new skin is regenerated. Depending on the treatment area and depth, the healing process will take about 7-10 days. A post-care kit will be provided to help speed up healing.

A Halo treatment begins first with a topical numbing cream applied to the treated area to ease any discomfort. This will stay on for approximately 40 minutes and be removed prior to treatment. Light from a laser can be harmful to eyes and wearing special safety eyewear is necessary at all times during the procedure. During treatment, each section will be treated by rolling the hand piece over the skin to deliver laser energy until completed which usually takes no more than 15 minutes, depending on the treatment area. The process can be described as a warm feeling of heat with pricking sensations. Cooling measures often help to enhance comfort. Laser treatment procedures may produce scanning patterns visible on the skin. This event usually fades while in the healing phase.

Before + After Care

  • Avoid direct sun exposure, including tanning beds, and artificial tanning (spray tans, tanning lotions, etc.) for at least 1-2 weeks prior to treatment. Use SPF 30+ if sun exposure is unavoidable. Patients with any residual sun tan in the treatment area have a higher risk of pigmentation changes.
  • Avoid skin irritants (products containing tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide or acne medications, vitamin C if strong or acidic, hydroquinone, AHAs, BHAs, astringents, depilatories, waxing, etc.) or any other exfoliating products in the treatment area for at least 7 days prior to treatment.
  • Avoid blood thinners (including fish oil and vitamin E), NSAIDs, photosensitizing drugs, and certain antibiotics at least 7 days before your treatment as these may increase the risk of bruising or irritation. Consult with your healthcare provider before discontinuing.
  • Wait at least 5–10 days after Botox or filler before receiving Halo.
  • If you have a history of herpes/cold sores in the treatment area, pre-treat with an antiviral a few days before and after treatment to reduce the risk of an outbreak. Please let us know if you need a prescription for a short course to take.

  • Limited activity and exercise is advised, as well as no sweating, heat, swimming, hot showers, and sauna use until skin is fully healed. When showering, try to avoid getting shampoo directly on the treated area.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure for 2-4 weeks following treatment. Keep the area covered with a hat or loose clothing and apply a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) SPF 30+ to prevent hyperpigmentation.
  • Avoid artificial tanning (spray tans, tanning lotions, etc.) and skin irritants (products containing tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide or acne medications, vitamin C if strong or acidic, hydroquinone, AHAs, BHAs, astringents, depilatories, waxing, etc.) or any other exfoliating products in the treatment area until skin is fully healed. Please use only the products included in your kit for the first few days, unless otherwise advised.
  • Avoid makeup for at least 24-48 hours, and only use mineral-based products once the skin starts healing.
